Who are we speaking to today?

Michelle Dawes-Jenkins, Founder of Bespoke Acupuncture.

In one sentence can you describe what Bespoke Acupuncture do?

I am dedicated to helping people find balance, reduce stress and improve sleep to be the best version of their self.

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind starting Bespoke Acupuncture?

My inspiration behind Bespoke Acupuncture stems from my passion for supporting individuals on their healing journey. I believe in providing a nurturing environment where people can find solace and restoration through the transformative power of Acupuncture, Cupping, and TuiNa therapy.

It brings me immense joy to witness the profound impact these modalities have on my patients' well-being as they embark on their path to healing and self-discovery.

Do you feel events at Better Space have helped you expand your knowledge and network?

Being self-employed has limited networking opportunities. Building a professional network becomes more challenging when working independently. Better Space brings peer support networking and professional development opportunities. Most importantly through wellness week, the opportunity to help support good self-care practices and I look forward to the Lunch and Learn.

Can you share some examples of collaborative projects or initiatives where Better Space has partnered with the community and Islington residents to promote learning and well-being activities?

In November, I collaborated with Better Space for Wellbeing Week to host Acupuncture Mini Sessions. It was a remarkable opportunity to witness the community's embrace of holistic wellness practices. As an alternative practitioner, I had the privilege of sharing my knowledge and expertise, offering insights into how acupuncture can alleviate stress, and pain, and enhance overall health. These sessions also provided a glimpse into the multifaceted approach of traditional Chinese medicine, dispelling misconceptions about needles and showcasing alternative techniques. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with participants sharing their experiences and testimonials that underscored the transformative power of acupuncture. For many, it was their inaugural encounter with this ancient healing art, and I felt deeply honoured to introduce them to its benefits.

How and what have Better Space done contributing to your growth, individually and professionally?

As a self-employed individual, networking can be challenging. Better Space offers peer support and professional development opportunities, especially during Wellness Week, fostering good self-care practices. Better Space invited me to be a judge at the Hackathon. Being a judge at this event was enriching, fostering both personal and professional growth. It boosted my confidence in giving constructive criticism, a skill I've struggled with before. This experience developed my resilience and empowered me to aid others in their growth journeys.

What is your favourite local business in Islington?

Gallipolli Restaurant on Upper Street. It is a great space to meet others from a coffee chat to a birthday celebration the deco is interesting and they do great spicy margaritas!
